Travelocity - Horrible Experience

Forewarning to any who use this site --- if booking a so-called great vacation package deal...be forewarned not to cancel any portion of it or change any portion.  I have spent at least 1-2 hours on the phone with their Customer Service (which is horrendous to begin with) only to get half our fare back, and a worthless credit for airfare...even when in all reality we were going to rebook and spend more with them.  ***as a side note, the plans were made 2 1/2 months in advance and canceled 1 1/2 months prior to trip.   I was completely dissatisfyed and would urge anyone to really look closely before placing an order with them.  We have since used other sites, and they have been extremely helpful in our travel plans, unexpected occurences do arise, and travelocity just seems to be there for the money and not customer satisfaction.

I use Travelocity to book my trips.  They are consistently lower than the other travel websites, even if its by $5.  And having the notifications for fare differences on your top ten locations has inspired me many times to purchase a ticket.  Travelocity works.

Changing itinerary

Due to a sudden family medical emergency, I needed to change dates of departure on a multi-city airline reservation that I had made 6 weeks earlier.  The experience was a nightmare.

After spending 45 minutes on various holds requested by the person I was connected with by the computer answering machine, I thought the change was completed.  I was charges $180 for the change plus the difference in fares for a total of $480.  While not happy with the extra charges, I understood the reasoning.

When I received the email confirmation the next day, I saw that the return flights had all changed too.  The reason for the multi-city reservation was so that I would be in a certain city for the night on a certain date.  The new reservations had me returning through a totally different city requiring an overnight stay in that city.

I called Travelocity that day to change the reservation so that I would be stopping in the city that I had requested on my original reservation.  This process took 2 hours, of which 1 1/2 hours were spent on hold with some pretty hideous music.  Then they wanted to charge me for another $180 plus difference in airfare for a change that they had made without notifying me until after the change had been made.  The person I was speaking with was very difficult to understand and she had a hard time understanding me.  Another outsourced mess.

Good job done quickly and efficiently.Only one caveat... I wasn't aware that travel insurance must be purchased at the same time as trip. That was a bit disappointing but the process of booking the trip was quite easy, the choices were many and the prices quite good.After calling one of their reps the following day I didn't understand why I couldn't get the insurance o r if I need to buy it ! His response was a bit confusing.

Travelocity is a very helpful site.  You get to choose where you want to stay and you can specify certain things about your hotel such as amenities and prices.  The reviews on Travelocity were also very helpful.  My husband and I stayed at the Arcadia Residential Suites in Cincinnati and we had a comfortable stay.  We brought pillows for the bed because other people said the pillows were very thin.  We were so glad we brought our own pillows because their pillows were not very comfortable.

I had no problems using travelocity. I did a lot of seaching and found the hotels I wanted. It was fast and easy and the best prices.

very strict with changing reservations

I was not happy that when I contacted Travelocity the very next day after making our reservation, after realizing that the dates conflicted with when my daughter was having surgery, they could not move the reservation 2 days forward.  They said that I could only cancel my trip and get a partial refund and then reschedule it.  I was just not happy with their customer service.  I didn't see how hard it could be to shift our reservations for our hotel and activities 2 days forward.  I'm not sure if I will use them again.  Planning the trip was super easy and Travelocity was very easy to use but I'm not happy with the fact that I can't be there for my  daughter and go on my trip.  I literally had to chose......not fair.

So before you plan your trip and finalize the reservation, make 100% sure that you are going to stick to that exact itinery because if you have to change your mind, your screwed.

Very Good

I've been using the Tavelocity site for several years and always find it cheaper than other travel sites.  The only place I have found cheaper flights is sometimes directly through the airline.  The hotel prices have always been cheaper than other site;  but during Winter when traveling to the mountains, you might want to get the travel insurance in case of airline cancellations, which won't cover those hotels you already paid for!

I use Travelocity all the time and have always been happy with the transaction.

Price pretty good - Service not so good

Travelocity says that if something is not right with you booking, they will work with their partners to make it right - that is not what happened for me. I was told to contact Delta Airlines myself to fix the changes made to my flights that gave me negative connections times. I can''t possibly get on a flight that leaves before I get there! Then when I was charged to have other travelers changed to the same flights, they would not refund the change fee. I probably will not use Travelocity again, and neither will the other 4 couples who are traveling with us.

No problems with Travelocity ever!

Their site is easy to use, and they have an excellent selection of hotels/motels. Sometimes I find the best airfare, sometimes not, though. But whenever I've had to contact them with a problem, their customer service is as good as the little gnome says it is. I much prefer Travelocity over the rest of their competition.

This was my first visit to Travelocity, and I was very impressed. The information on the hotels was extensive, and I was able to compare a bunch side by side to find out which one fit my needs best. I visited some similar sites before trying Travelocity, and I was very disappointed because those "other" sites, don't tell you the hotel you are staying at until AFTER you've paid for the room. I would highly recommend Travelocity for anyone looking to save money on their next trip.

Easy Excellent Service

A tough time travelling....

Frontier put on hold/cancelled a flight from Santa Barbara- was on hold for more than a month- nonetheless Travelocity sold me a ticket and emailed me...but I never got the message- my bad....? Was not fun ironing this out, and they had a cell phone to contact me- maybe its just the industry but I was ready to kill that little elf.....
